Our Certified Good Practice Movers Requirements

The Carrier agrees to all of the following guidelines set by Mover’s Alliance Management to be advertised and considered a “certified good practice mover”.

  •  The Carrier must carry appropriate commercial registration & licensing for his truck.
  • The Carrier carries up to date WCB coverage.
  • The Carrier agrees that his/her truck will be maintained in reasonable mechanical condition, appearance should be free of graffiti.
  • The Carrier and his/her employees agree to conduct business in a professional manner.
  • The Carrier and his/her employees will abstain from the use of alcohol or drugs while on a company move.
  • The Carrier and his/her employees are to be clean and appropriately dressed in work attire.
  • The Carrier agrees to make reasonable efforts to fulfill the arrangements made for servicing a shipment, including the performance of pickup and delivery as agreed upon. Keep customers advised of any service delays and provide them with information as to when service may be expected to be performed. This will include providing the customer with a contact name and telephone number for ongoing contact.
  • The Carrier agrees to present and correctly utilize a Bill of Lading and the Conditions of Carriage in compliance with the Motor Vehicle regulations, the conditions of carriage must be printed clearly.
  • The Carrier agrees to promptly and fairly attempt to resolve disputes including loss or damage claims to household goods, billing concerns, general client dissatisfaction through in-house complaints-handling and/or external dispute resolution processes as appropriate and available.
  • Communicate with the public through fair and accurate advertisements and sales literature regarding the services that may be performed.

I recognized there was a growing anxiety between the consumer to find a trust worthy mover and also the credible mover who’s reputation is being tainted by the unscrupulous few. It was my desire  to establish a brand recognition that will ensure the client a professional service and at the same time, aid the movers in growing their business. We took on this task and transformed it into a streamlined professional service with outstanding customer feedback!  I personally have been in the moving industry for over 12 years. I have facilitated the role of operations manager, dispatcher, recruiter, and customer care.  I am confident in both residential and corporate moving, including both local and long distance across the country relocation. It is my strong belief that our experienced sales agents can increase your sales volume without increasing your overhead. We understand the key to developing and growing a successful moving company!

Moving Tips – Moving Without Stress (If Possible)

At some point in their life everyone does it. More than likely it will be stressful, hot, dirty, result in arguments among family members, and generally, not be a pleasant experience. It is moving from one home to another. However, there are numerous ways that you can make it in to a better experience for all involved.

1. First, and foremost, hire Calgary Movers. You may think that you can move everything yourself, but, inevitably, you will regret it. Decide on the date and book as soon as possible.

2. As soon as you learn that you are moving, start preparing yourself. Begin collecting boxes of all sizes, buying sturdy tape, gathering up a few permanent markers, and saving newspapers and bubble wrap. Make a check list of everything you will need to do including switching utilities from the old address to the new one.

happymove3. Get rid of some stuff. This is the perfect time to get rid of some of the objects you have been holding on to for years that you do not need such as clothes, shoes, baby items, old dishes, papers, and books. If you have not used them in years give them away, sell them, or whatever you must do to get them out of the way.

4. Start by boxing up the items that you do not use as frequently as others such as out of season clothes, toys, books, shoes. Make sure that you can do without them for a couple of weeks until everything is done. Put them in boxes according to the room they will be going to. Mark what room and a general description of what is in the box on the outside. Do not leave a box unmarked. You may think that you can remember what you put in that weird shaped box, but more often than not you will forget.

5. Clean as you go. It is much simpler to leave all those extra papers, dust bunnies, etc where you find them, you will have to clean it up eventually and then you will be kicking yourself for not doing it before.The closer that you get to packing, the more you can start packing of stuff you use regularly. It is best to have a box or two specifically for items you use daily that you can unpack immediately after arriving.

6. Remember to take special care when packing breakable or valuable items. Wrap them carefully. If it a small item such as jewelry, you may be better off moving it in your car rather than bothering the movers with it.

7. Pay particular attention to your electronics. If you have the original packaging, but it back in there to move it. If not use a sturdy box and wrap them in something soft. Unplug the cords and label what exactly they go to make things easier when you arrive at the new place.

8. If at all possible, find your children a place to go during the big day. Yes, they are cute and can be helpful, but before the day is out they will be driving you crazy. Do yourself and them a favor and send them to a friend. It may be good to leave your pets with friends as well. You do not want to worry about your pets escaping through an open door.

9. Before the movers arrive, have a plan and be ready to go. It is advisable that you have an insurance policy in place just in case. You never know what can, and will, happen.moving-day

10. Allow the movers to do their job. You hired them to move the big items so that they would arrive at the new place in the same condition that they left in. They will also take the small boxes. It is best to let the movers pack the truck the way they are accustomed to. They, most likely, know the best ways to pack it so that everything is safe and secure.

11. Tell the movers what rooms to place everything in so that it is convenient for you.

12. Enlist your friends to help you unpack. This is the perfect time to call in favors. Of course, take care of them and provide food and drinks.

Before Moving Anything In

Before moving any of your belongings into your new home, its important to make sure that everything is as it should be. You may have had a list of repairs you expected or this may be the first time you’ve seen the house empty. Take some time to go around with a notepad and check all of the sockets for obvious signs of wear and tear and look for damage that you might be otherwise liable for.

Ensure that any cupboards are empty, free of damp, mold or bad smells, and keep a close note of what where the electricity, water and gas stopcocks are. While doing this, you’ll also be getting a feel for where you can place any furniture, how to get it up any stairs or even just into the house. Note down any damage or concerns you have to be discussed with whomever you’re dealing with . It’s important to have these notes before moving anything in so that you can get the problems remedied as soon as possible.

If you’re renting, your landlord should also give you contact details, emergency repair numbers and any paperwork pertaining to these emergency repairs that you may need. You may also want to get bank details or arrange a good time to come and collect rent. Any final paperwork can be signed now, and then you can start making your new place your own.

You should also ensure that the central heating and boiler are working correctly and collect any manuals for these from the previous occupants.  These manuals will save you a lot of frustration in the long run.

I would like to bring to your attention Movers Alliance Management, and how very pleased I am with the moving experience I had with Dale. This was an extremely difficult move given the short period of time we had to work with. I was being evicted by my ex. I am a woman with a disability, MS, and we had 3-1/2 days to work with to get me and my 1300 sq. ft. household, packed and gone to a destination that was known only to us.

Not only did these folks go above and beyond (wayyyy beyond) the call of duty to get me out, the last two days of the move was without much of my help because I ended up in hospital with cardiac problems. With keys in hand and not knowing exactly what was going and what was staying except for a bunch of post it notes affixed to a bunch of things, Dale and his crew completed a miracle.

On top of that, the last day of the move, they were subjected to harassment. Dale handled the matter brilliantly, legally and professionally and kept on working. He got everything out, EVERYTHING! And as I kept apologizing from the hospital all he was worried about was my health and that I was OK. This man and the company were my Angels those days. People that I didn’t even know took charge on their own, did what had to be done, never b#$%@#d or complained, and never charged me a penny more than they had quoted. On top of that, at the receiving end, they made sure my bed was set up, food unpacked and in the cupboard, pots and pans, dishes and cutlery, in cupboards in case I was not able to unpack and had no one to unpack for me.
I would unequivocally recommend this company to anyone looking for a mover. These people are honest, professional and took on a job that was a nightmare. They didn’t even back out or back off even under threat. I doubt if any other mover in this city would have done what they did. Movers Alliance Mangement are my heroes.

Vancouver Piano Movers

Piano moving is a specialty.  There are 3 types of piano moves.

  1. Upright Piano Move
  2. Upright Grand Piano Move
  3. Grand Piano Move.

There are many bargain companies out there where you can get a flat rated piano move.  Some of these will be very tempting because their price “seems” so much better than an hourly rate quote.  Here are some important things to consider in a piano move.  If a piano move is too cheap, you are likely dealing with an uninsured move.  A piano move is one of the highest risk when it comes to insurance claims.  You want to make sure that your moving company is fully insured, and has the right piano moving equipment.  If you choose a company that flat rates it, be prepared for surprises.

Pianos can weigh anywhere from 250 lbs all the way to over 1000 lbs, so be aware of this, and be sure to inform your move coordinator of access descriptions very thoroughly.  If you omit that the staircase at the move to location has a tight turn, you may be in for some surprises.  If our move coordinator is properly informed (and they will ask a lot of questions), you will have a smooth piano move.  Our guys are insured, and have the right equipment and years of experience in moving all types of pianos, in all types of circumstances.
